Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2011 MacArthur Foundation “Genius Grants,” announced yesterday. The poet in the bunch is A.E. Stallings. She is a 43-year-old American poet living in Athens, Greece with her husband, John Psaropoulos, editor of Athens News. There, Stallings is the director of the poetry program at the Athens Centre, and is also a translator as well as a poet. She has published two books of original verse, Archaic Smile (1999) and Hapax (2006), and a verse translation of Lucretius’ De Rerum Natura (The Nature of Things) (2007). You can read a short bio and three poems at Poetry Foundation.
