It’s National Library Week! I celebrated by going to the MUSE Reading Club held at the Kent East Liverpool Campus Library last night! I also got this cool temporary tattoo. It is an open book that says “Libraries Leave a Mark.”

The book we read for this week is called Writing in an Age of Silence, by Sara Paretsky. It is a memoir of a writer of detective novels. I enjoyed reading the book because it was about the role of the writer and finding one’s voice. According to Paretsky, and this is something I agree with, the role of the writer is to tell the truth. This is true for fiction writers and poets as much as writers of non-fiction.
